Research suggests that a well-nourished child is more likely to be at school, be a better learner, and be willing to participate in the classroom. Unfortunately, many families face obstacles in providing a healthy meal each day. Tight budgets for low-income families makes it difficult to provide healthy meals to children daily. This may affect one’s academics, brain function, and overall wellness and health. Our School Feeding Programs play a critical role in filling this void for many low-income children every school day. The program currently supports 1080 students at 3 schools in Bangalore serving meals daily.
Our School Feeding Programs serves freshly cooked hot nutritious meals for all students on a regular basis at their schools. Bangalore Food Bank develops the diet plan with different items considering the local food culture, preferences and the nutrition content. The food is prepared at the schools or by a vendor and served to school for distribution. The impact is measured to track the nutrition growth of the students.
